Standards & Specification Development

Technical standards and specifications are the backbone of any well-managed electricity network. They define how assets are designed, inspected, procured, and maintained and when they are incomplete, outdated, or misaligned with current practice, the consequences flow through every level of the organisation.
CoEng works with electricity network operators, contractors, and asset owners to develop, review, and certify the technical documents that their businesses depend on. Our work in this space spans the full range of network engineering from overhead line design standards and condition assessment specifications, to procurement specifications for high voltage switchgear and instrument transformers, to the certification of contractor design tools against Australian Standards.
We bring a rare combination of first-principles engineering knowledge and practical field experience to standards work. We interrogate the underlying engineering assumptions, identify gaps between documented requirements and actual practice, and produce specifications that are technically defensible, operationally practical, and aligned with current Australian Standards including AS/NZS 7000, AS/NZS 2566, and relevant network operator codes.
